The GCC, the Global Entrepreneurship Index and the conjecture

According to a Washington-based Global Entrepreneurship and Development Institute,  the UAE not only topped a group of 15 MENA countries but came ahead of many global economies, such as Norway, Turkey and even Japan.  It ranked 19th in the 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Index that determines the readiness of a country in accommodating entrepreneurial projects, through the evaluation of the regulatory, operational, service educational and cultural and social issues of its institutions.

The index was however headed worldwide by the United States, Canada, Australia, Denmark and Sweden in that order.

Among the Gulf countries, Qatar ranked 24th, Bahrain 29th, Saudi Arabia 36th, Oman 38th and Kuwait 39th. . .
